a little about me…
I relocated to the Bay Area in 2013 to be a high school math teacher and since I have gotten married, had two kids, and am now a SAHM, stay/slay at home mom.
COVID has been hard. My second was 9 months at the start. I had already been struggling with postpartum depression coupled with figuring out how to navigate having two kids two years apart… Then I had belly’s palsy (half facial paralysis) then my younger brother was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. Life went from figuring out a routine in early 2020 to “what the hell does routine even mean??” in later 2020. I started going out with my kids to open spaces for my mental health (and their’s too!). We went everywhere. We needed to in order to survive. I needed to in order to survive.
I started developing lots of options about parks and places to take kids. “That ones good but this one is better.” “Go here but don’t enter at the front. It’s better from the other side”. Etc etc. Eventually my friend suggested I write all of it down to share with other parents anxious to get out of their homes during/after a global pandemic and now here we are!
This has turned into a community of parents and caregivers excited to explore and happy to begin some sort of normal for their kids (and let’s be honest… the adults too). It has turned into a place to make friendships. It has even turned into a small way for me to help my family financially after I became a contributing writer for @gethappyly
I am thankful you are here. I am thankful for the likes shares and comments. I’m thankful to be able to get outside and see what each new day offers.
This community couldn’t be what it is without you.
