Donlon Point Staging Area — Dublin

Donlon Point Staging Area in Dublin Hills Regional Park is an outdoor adventure to remember.

Dublin Hills Regional Park is about 520 acres of grassland home to wild animals, flowers, birds, cattle, and seasonal streams and ponds. Most of the trails are an out and back type walk (unless you do Donlon Point Trail or Donlon Loop Trail) so remember, however far you go out you need to go the same distance back.

Look out for wildflowers, birds, lizards, rock formations, cow tracks and more. When you get to the ridgeline be sure to stop and take in the panoramic views.

There are numbered markers along the trail along with trail name markers. The popular trail in this park is Calaveras Ridge Regional Trail.

There is a bit of an incline at the beginning but once you get to the second gate it’s not bad. If you're up for pushing a stroller up the hill it's pretty smooth sailing beyond that. If you go off the trail a bit before reaching the second gate you can see the cows’ water trough. Depending on when you go, you'll either be able to see cows off in the distance or right alongside the trail. Watch out for their poo!

There is a parking lot with bathrooms and a nice picnic bench area.

You can spend a bunch of time exploring here if you’re up for it. It's easy to feel like you're the only person around when here especially when you see the miles of grassland that has been untouched since the 1800s.
