Tilden Little Farm — Berkeley

Located in Tilden Regional park at the Tilden Nature Area, this FREE to visit little farm is such a surprising find in the Berkeley hills.

You'd be sheepish if you didn't moooove on over to Tilden Little Farm this weekend #sorry.

We had a really fun time visiting little farm after our train ride on the Tilden steam train. Although they’re both in Tilden, they are not near each other.

Once you park I’m sure you’ll see the play structure, but I suggest saving that for after you visit the animals. Just in case your kiddos get cranky at the end of your adventure, at least you’re right next to your car and not up the hill by the sheep Walk past the roundabout and cross the footbridge and you’ll start to see Little Farm!

Opened in 1955, Little Farm is an actual working farm! Here you will encounter cows, sheep, pigs, goats, geese, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and rabbits.

Guests are allowed to feed the animals (except the rabbits) by bringing lettuce or celery.

It can get muddy/messy so wear the right shoes. Pack water for the walk up the mellow hill to the ba ba black sheep and food for a bonus picnic on the lawn of the Environmental Education Center.

The Red Barn is the home of all the birds where you’ll see them taking a swim, laying eggs, or cock-a-doodle-dooing.

After the visit with the animals, we visited the Children’s Garden and walked down the big wooden staircase to a sweet and shaded bench perfect for a snack.

Before leaving we hit the gated playground which has big climbing boulders, ladders, steps, and a small sidewinder slide. This area is definitely not shaded

Along the parking lot are picnic areas with tables and bathrooms. No food for purchase and spotty cell service.

Opens at 900am. The red barn closes at 330 but the parking lot gates stay open until 5 if you wish to enjoy the grounds a bit
