Athan Downs Park — San Ramon
Athan Downs Park is a large community park with multiple options for rec and an all abilities playground.
A fun park with so many offerings for all! Located in San Ramon, Athan Downs is rec meets play at its finest.
The all abilities playground has many long ramps, peek out bubbles, educational games, monkey bars, a variety of ladders, steps, a slide pole, climbing walls, a “sway fun boat” with benches and a small table, suspended lily pads (the wobbly kind and the stationary kind) and four slides (two side winders, two doubles) all under shade umbrellas to beat the heat! Around the structure is even more play opportunities: a merry go round, a rolly tunnel, low monkey bars, spinning cups, a climbing dome, a sandbox with funnel table, and a swing set including standard, bucket, and chair style swings. A feature we all really enjoyed was the noise making floor! Different shapes were on the ground around the play area and when you stomp on them, the speaker near the sandbox makes the corresponding sound (cow shapes makes a moo, music note shape makes a tune). It was really fun and a great way to get the kiddos running around to each shape then darting back to hear the noise.
Nearby the playground is a picnic area. This park has a lot of big trees around giving plenty of opportunity for a picnic.
The park also has a beach volleyball court, a half basketball court, softball/baseball fields, tennis courts, a large glass fields.
There is a parking lot and bathrooms.
