Berkeley Rose Garden — Berkeley

Berkeley Rose Garden is a great addition to an already fun family outing at Codornices Park

With all of the flowers in full bloom, it was no question that we absolutely needed to see the Berkeley Rose Garden after playing at Codornices Park right across the street (or via the underground tunnel). The kids loved running around on the many paths through this multi-level amphitheater rose display. The overhead trellis awning provides great shade for a sit on the many benches wrapping the top level of the amphitheater. Amongst the 250 varieties of roses, there is a water fountain to add to the serenity of the space. To one side of the rose garden, there are tennis courts. To the other side, there is a hillside grove of redwood, oak, and other trees found in the Bay. This really is such a beautiful oasis tucked away in the Berkeley Hills.

There were plenty of people enjoying the sun and the flowers but not too many that it felt crowded. The position of the Berkeley Rose Garden offers beautiful views of Berkeley, the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge so be sure to visit on a clear day.

The Rose Garden can be booked for events including weddings.

The entrance is free.

There are bathrooms just outside of the fences.

There is two-hour street parking.

The paths are very steep making the entire Rose Garden not accessible by wheelchair, but the overlook at the top can be enjoyed by people of all abilities.
