Ardenwood Historic Farm — Fremont

Ardenwood is a historic yet active farm in the middle of a city is a place to interact, explore and even taste some farm foods.

This historic farm from the 1800s is now a perfect destination to go back in time and see how it was to live life on the farm. Something really neat about this historic farm though is that it is still a working farm producing fruits and veggies as well as grains that were produced here at the farm over a century and a half ago.
Walking the grounds you’ll find farm animals including sheep, goats, ducks, bunnies, chickens, and peacocks, historic farming equipment, a windmill, a blacksmith, an outdoor 1850s inspired kitchen, a modern-day cafe, picnic tables, and many opportunities to learn how important farms are in providing resources and bringing people together.
At the epicenter is the Patterson Victorian farmhouse, formal gardens, water fountain, and gazebo. Near the large home is a small garden with water canisters for kids to pitch in and help care for the farm plants... (so much fun!)
Nearby is a beautiful blocked-off area perfect for weddings or group events. Tucked in the back of the farm is a more casual group picnic area with large grassy fields and a volleyball court. Before you leave, don’t miss the giant stacks of hay opposite the parking lot. The farm also has a train!

Look out for special events like berry picking, doll making, or the Halloween party! See the website for more information.

Add this after Frank Fisher Park for a full day outing.
