Bidwell Park — Hayward

Elementary school turned park…sorta.

Elementary school turned park…sorta. This park is right next to the now closed Bidwell Elementary School in South Hayward and @hayward_rec plans to bring the park, field and campus together to create one big community park including a community center, playground, dog park, multi-use courts, pedestrian paths, and picnic sites. Currently, the campus and east playground are gated off but this play space and the field are accessible.

The play area is on Fairway St and the field is on Rousseau St although both are reachable by either street. The play area is completely gated with a structure, swings (standard only), gymnastic bars, picnic tables, and a basketball court. The structure has three slides (sidewinder, wide, spiral), steps, ladders, and monkey bars.

Behind the play area is the open grassy field.

With it being not too busy and completely gated plus good amounts of shade, this park is perfect for a quick park outing.

Looking forward to what Hayward Rec will do with this space in the future.

Street parking.
