Bonaire Park — San Leandro

Bonaire Park is a perfect place to visit for a picnic and lots of opportunities for play!

Tucked on the west side of Washington Manor is Bonaire Park and Playground. It has a big play area, rolling grassy picnic spots (including benches and BBQs), bathrooms, horseshoe pits plus parking!

The play area consists of two sections. The front section is for bigger kids (but smaller kids can have fun too). There are two slides, steps, various ladders, a tunnel, a swaying balance beam, suspended lily pads for hopping, climbing walls, monkey rings, a zip line, a sliding pole, a hanging spinning disc, and a chain net for spider climbing. There is also a swing set with standard swings only.

The back section is for smaller kids (although big kids enjoy it too). It is completely gated in and in addition to the structure, there is a giant teeter-totter and swing set with bucket swings only. The play structure has two slides, a tunnel, steps, ladders, and a bridge.

This park usually has other people playing or having a picnic. It’s not a secret spot but it’s not as popular as some other “big name” park so you can still go and enjoy without feeling too crowded. If one section does start to feel too crowded just hop to the other, play in the grass (did someone say hill rolling?) or chalk up some of the sidewalk paths that lead to the different picnic spots. This is a really good-sized park with a decent amount of shade! t always does.
