Carlos Bee Park — Hayward

Carlos Bee Park is a lush spot with a perfect combination of exploring and playing!

There is a tiny parking lot with just a short walk (stroller friendly) to the play structure. The structure has two types of monkey bars, monkey rings, three slides (a double, a wide, and a spiral), a few ladders and steps. The steps are funky. The bottom step is kinda like a step ladder. New walkers will probably need help up.

The playground also has a balance beam between parallel bars (really great for holding onto to practice balance) and standard swings (no bucket swings).

Near the playground there is a gazebo with lots of tables and other picnic sites spread out in different special spots. I particularly liked the tables under the big redwood tree

Other things to explore - the creek (including a bridge over), trials up the hills, squirrel houses in the trees, and ducks in the water. If you’re lucky you might even spot a deer!

We decided to be adventurous and tromps around the hills. I saw others heading in the same direction while we were at the playground. Once up we ran into a few “permanent campers” that were a bit vocal. They weren’t near the playground. We only saw them once we walked a ways up the hill. Maybe we didn’t follow the right trail but I’d love to know where all the people were walking to. On the way back down we noticed more “campsites”

There are bathrooms.

Because of the distance from the road and the number of campers, I’d visitors to go in groups.
