Hill Crest Knolls Park — San Leandro

Hill Crest Knolls Park offers plenty of grass, an exercise track, and a playground with sand!

This park is wedged between Fairmont Ridge and 580 but don’t let that fool you. It’s a quiet park and nearly every time I’ve gone we’ve been alone. There are occasional walkers but mostly zero kids on the playground.

The play structure offers lots to do. There are four slides (tube, double, spiral, and a fast bumpy). There are steps and three ladders. There are monkey bars, horizontal bars, a peek-a-boo bubble, and three educational activities built in. The ground is sand unlike a lot of other playgrounds in the area. Its nice because if the kids get tired of the playground they have a giant sandbox. It does have lots of sticks and leaves but it does the job! It could use some more sand because the drop-offs from the slides are big.

There’s an almost complete loop around the park with a few spots of exercise equipment along the way. There’s a huge grassy field and some basketball courts plus picnic bench areas with bbq.

This park does not have a bathroom. There is a small area for parking but not a designated parking lot. We typically see wild turkeys walking through.

There are no swings.
