FM Smith Park — Oakland

FM Smith Park is a hidden Oakland treasure!

It doesn't have the biggest or newest playground, but it has everything (but a bathroom) you'd want in a park!

With two play areas separated by a big grass field, sand, shade, basketball and a garden... Add this one to your list!

The larger play area sits below huge shade trees (perfect if it's a hot day). It has some really unique features like a wide climbing ladder, a long bridge and two tube ladder. This play structure also has two slides (tube and straight), steps, and learning activities. In this same area is a swing set with standard swings.

On the other side of the park is a smaller play area geared towards younger kids. It has steps, a slide, and a ladder. This play area is on sand and has many community donated toys to add to the park time fun.

The huge grassy area between is w great place to kick a ball, throw a frisbee, play fetch with your dog (signs say no dogs but they were there), or have a picnic below the redwoods or at one of the picnic tables with bbq.

Don’t miss the community garden (not sure of the rules) and the historical area of the park with photographs of the park’s namesake and statues of his beloved mules. 🐴

While it’s not a fully gated, there are barriers separating the park from the road.

Be sure to check out the black top design 🤩
