Lincoln Park — Alameda

Close to Alameda's east shore, you’ll find Lincoln Park, which is filled with tons of options for recreation and play.

This is a very cool park under some very big trees. On the historic lots sits the small Lincoln Park Lodge, which was established in 1908.

Two playgrounds sit close to one another. The bigger area, intended for older kids, is expansive, with ladders, bridges, monkey bars, and four slides—a sidewinder, a tube, one spiral, and a bumpy one! The structure also features various learning activities as well as “bubble” peepholes to peek through! While this area is designed for older children, it’s not so tall in height as to intimidate younger kids (or scare their adults!).

Just across the sidewalk sits the smaller, toddler-centered play zone with a bucket swing set and small play structure with two slides, a tube tunnel, and more. Unlike many parks, the toddlers’ zone sits on sand, so be sure to bring toys to make the most of it!

A set of parallel bars, another set of climbing bars, and a really big swing set with standard swings (long chains = extra-long pendulum arc = extra fun time) sit nearby.

But there’s more to Lincoln Park than the playgrounds. The site also features a lovely rose garden, a pool, pickleball courts, handball courts, and a basketball court. There’s also a baseball field as well as fitness equipment and bocce ball, which basically means there’s something here to entertain everyone in the family. (Check the website for pool access; online you’ll also find codes for the pickleball courts and bocce ball area.)

There’s a small parking lot off of Fernside Boulevard —you’ll see a small driveway between two homes and a baseball field; you can park by the rec center. If that’s full you can also park along High Street. However, restrooms and a covered picnic area can be found nearby the parking lot. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
