Oyster Bay Disc Golf Course - San Leandro

Disc Golf with a view

The new disc golf course at Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline in San Leandro is looking great! We haven't been to this regional park since the course has been completed and what a different feel it gives to the land. Compared to before when you could get lost amongst the tall grass, now it is all cut down with paths clearly marked. Trees have been planted which will eventually grow and change the land once again (and also hopefully cut down on the often windy weather on this peninsula) There were a lot more people using the space than before the course was completed but they were very friendly.

I hope it doesn't turn into a rowdy drinking spot as I typically associate with disc golf. I'm sure it makes the park SIGNIFICANTLY busier, especially on the weekends. (ehem Chabot Park. What a zoo on a weekend).

To get to the course take the asphalt path to the left at the entrance and cut up into the picnic area on your right after about a 1/4 mile. Go 1/4 mile more to the “putting green” and tee #1 found near the wave sculpture.

If you want to check out this regional shoreline but want to avoid the golfers, that's totally possible. Just keep on the outer trail on the left of the entrance or take the paths to the right and see the airport side of the park.

Looking forward to checking out the Bike Skills Area when it’s done in 1-2 years (or more but still will be a great addition to this repurposed landfill!)
