Dunn Trail in Reinhardt-Redwood Regional Park — Oakland

Geologists in training will love this trail that has so many different rocks at nearly every turn.

As you can see it does have a pretty serious rocky incline, but that can be avoided if park on Skyline Blvd after turning at the signal where Skyline and Joaquin Miller Rd.

Although the trail does loop, we stopped just after the electrical line passes over the path to make our turn around. It gave us about a one hour hike with snack breaks.

Beyond seeing all of the beautiful rocks there’s plenty of wildlife and plants to check out (notice the photo of the tree branch reaching the ground and then becoming apart of the roots) as well as the many on leash dogs who walk their grown ups here.

It can be pretty windy of being a jacket so you don’t end up having to use the tfor emergencies like my husband and I did

For safest entry to the trail avoid parking on the busy section of Skyline Blvd and instead park in the lot at Richard C. Trudeau Conference Center. Here you’ll find pull in spots, picnic tables, water, and bathrooms.
