Karl Nordvik Park — Fremont

Don’t let the crowds steer you away! This spread-out park is fun fun fun!

When we drove up I almost turned around but I knew that would have been quickly protested. This place was packed! Soccer was happening on the field (which included a baseball diamond). Birthday parties were happening at the play area. Pick up games were happening on the basketball courts. And the parking lot… packed! But we found street parking and gave it a go! I’m so glad we did!

The two play areas are very close to each other. The larger play structure has steps, ladders, two sidewinder slides, a climbing wall, a bridge, suspended lillypads, a rope bridge and a tall rope triangle tower. This area also has a rock climbing arch, standard swings, spinning cups and a stand up spinning post.

The smaller play structure has two slides (a bumpy double and a spiral), steps, ladders, monkey bars, educational games, a short bridge and gymnastics bar. This area has spinning cups and two swings (bucket and hard plastic all abilities).

Despite the initial reaction of the crowds, the way the playgrounds are spaced out made it feel not too crowded.

There is a bathroom very close and lots of benches and grass. The picnic tables (with bbq) appear to be reservable. If they’re in use, there aren’t other tables.
