Sorensdale Park and Recreation Center — Hayward
An expansive playground suitable for all ages!
An icy early morning park adventure lead us to this spot in a cul-de-sac behind Tennyson High. On a warm covid free day I can just imagine this place full of people playing ball in one of the ball fields, horseshoes in the horseshoe pit, or picnicking in one of the many spots to bbq up a lunch. This spot even has a snack bar with really neat art. Looking at pictures of the Rec Cen it appears this is a venue of weddings, plays, auctions, etc etc.
The multilevel play structure covers a large area with four slides (spiral, straight, s short sidewinder and a short wide), four ladders, a firefighter pole, monkey bars, a chain net walkway that’s probably pretty fun when there’s less wood chips, and neat number/picture/counting spinner activity that unfortunately has the 6 and 9 flipped. The swing set is broken into two sections - one with standard swings and the other with a tire swing. There are no bucket swings at this playground.
There are unlocked bathrooms and a big parking lot. This appears to be a popular dog walking park. Most were on leash.
